Evert Rietdijk has joined the management board of Cellcius as CEO as of 1 November 2021. With this expansion of the management team, the innovative Dutch startup Cellcius is ready for further development to take the next step in its ambition to accelerate the energy transition.

Cellcius' heat battery technology makes it possible to store heat safely and loss-free for long periods of time. Moreover, the technology makes it possible to transport heat without the need for a special and expensive heat network. Residual heat from, for example, industry and data centres can be stored in this way efficiently and at low cost and then used elsewhere to heat homes and offices.

Rietdijk comes over from Nedschroef Herentals where he was General Manager. "The demand for sustainable ways of dealing with energy is increasing rapidly and is becoming more and more topical. One of the greatest challenges is the profitable storage of energy, for example in the form of heat. Cellcius has the solution. A solution that must be part of the answer to the question of how we use our energy smarter. And it's up to us to make this technology widely available as quickly as possible. Says Rietdijk.

Founder Olaf Adan is pleased with the addition of the management team. "Now that we have filled the CEO position we can accelerate the development of Cellcius. With the knowledge and experience of Evert Rietdijk we can give Cellcius further substance to the great interest in our heat battery technology. And with that we also increase the impact on our ambition: to accelerate the energy transition and thus contribute to a more sustainable world."

Cellcius bv was founded in 2020 to further develop and commercialise the heat battery technology developed in cooperation with TNO and TU Eindhoven.
